This goes to show - you never know how you will impact another's life. Be Kind!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Beaute' and Me - early years!
Beau was the kindest ever
Beau w one of his little friends!

Hello Ms. Yancey,

My name is Heather Smith Bulba and I knew you many years ago.  You made a huge impact on my life.  I was so thrilled to come across your name on the internet as I was searching for a picture of Beaute to show my daughter.

You were kind enough to take me under your wing back around 1978.  My family had just moved to Southlake and I was friendless and a miserable teen.  I had a huge passion for horses and wanted to learn everything about them.  I boldly walked up to your place one day and asked if you would give me horseback riding lessons. I was thrilled that you agreed and I proceeded to come down to your place as often as I could!  I have fond memories of watching the foals frolic while I had the privilege of riding Beaute on the lunge line.  He was and still is the most gentlest and beautiful horse I have ever known.  I also made Helena's acquaintance -- she threw me one day.  I don't know who it scared more -- you or me.  I always felt so bad for you when that happened and so glad we both survived!  :)

I still have the horse figurines that you and your parents gave me and I recall the memories at your beautiful place in the woods often.  I tell my daughter stories about my time spent with you, the horses, Thaddeus, Echo and Pinky Lee.

I read about Yancey Farms on line.  It looks like you are still hard at what you love best.

I wanted to thank you for making a difference in my life.

Warmest regards,

Heather

Broere Jazz rejoins us as well!

Broere Jazz with Tineke Bartels in Jerez
With a change in management a couple of seasons ago, we have not had access to JAZZ. Well, tenacity sometimes pays off,  (!) and I am pleased to announce that he will rejoin our virtual stable this season. The semen is, at this time, being evaluated for numbers at University of Utrecht, and will arrive in my first shipment out of Holland after the New Year. Yancey Farms was awarded exclusive agency here.
Since the WBFSH started keeping "Sire of the Year", JAZZ was #1 for 4 years in a row, 2008 - 2011, and has been in top 3 the last two years. I really don't need to tell any dressage breeder who JAZZ is, and also to mention that the fertility of his semen has always, without question, been excellent. $1350/dose
Maybe this season is shaping up after all!!

Another young filly growing into a mare....

This is FRIGGA (Florencio - Pik Labionics - Manstein - Tin Rocco). She is one of the 3 fillies I bought out of South Germany as babies. I like to quietly start them in the winter before their third year, giving youngsters a solid start. Then, it is easy to pick up again.
This is such a solid young mare. Study her if you want to see exemplary hind legs, weight bearing, good articulation in hock joints. She is supple, fluid and has a wonderful , big relaxed walk. All in all, with her deep pedigree, she is a total package.
Fred Tuller has been starting all of my horses, Warmbloods, Kigers, Lusitanos, TBs since 2000. They always come back from him feeling so good about themselves. I am spoiled! And Cookie there to take photos.... it was a lovely day yesterday!

How I love hearing from breeders .....A winning report from Cindy K.Smith!

Hi Judy,

A couple of years ago I ordered two doses of Ampere semen for my competition mare, Waukena.  We were able to bring to life our 2012 KWPN filly, Habana - Ampere x Contester x Wanroij.  I'm writing to let you know that she is turning out to be a terrific young horse.

We recently took her to the Spy Coast Farm Young Horse qualifier and then onto the finals in Lexington, KY. Habana won the yearling filly class with an amazing score of 9, best yearling score in the US this year in the Spy Coast Farm series!

Just wanted to thank you for providing the services that you do so we may continue to breed wonderful horses in this country!!

The "Gran Dame", Dream Rubina

Cookie and I decided that we just HAD to take photos of Rubina, aka "Beaner". I tend not to take photos of my horses that are NOT for sale, therefore focusing on the ones that ARE for sale. Consequence has been that I have few photos of my most cherished horses, Helena , Reina and Dream Rubina and her sister Finale
Well, here is Beaner, after a wet Florida summer of green grass (please excuse her "excess") . She is a significant mare, and still powerful in her movement, with good suspension and thrust.
Dam to many fine foals, including stallion sons Qredit by Quaterback and W.Ellington by Wynton.

Dream Rubina is by Dream of Glory out of Reina H by Rubinstein who was out of Helena by Herbststurm - Pregel - Boris, my foundation mare. (1975)

"Parting is such sweet sorrow" .......

Well, it's almost time to bid Adieu to our "WHITE LION". (Branca Leao - Gaucho III)

He will be heading to Northern California, a trip that his own Mom took a couple of months ago. It is a long journey for a yearling colt, but he is in great hands with Gail Murphy,  http://murphyspets.com

He has been a pleasure to be with and I have to admit, I will miss his presence.
Congratulations to Michelle Nandy, who fell in love and had to have him!

DREAMWEAVER and ANTONIO

DREAMWEAVER by Zonik out of Dream Rubina (Dream of Glory - Rubinstein)

I love this photo from Sally Moehring! Antonio Lopez has worked for me for THIRTY years! How many foals has he presented in inspection!!?? I counted 54 GOV Premium Award plaques on the barn wall yesterday, as I was adding our precious offering of 2 from this year. Since I have been in Florida, since 1998, we have presented 54 foals to the GOV, and Antonio ran with them all. Before that, in Texas, we had a history with the Oldenburg Verband since 1984! So, this was our 29th consecutive inspection with GOV!

My 38th foal crop! This is The Templar by Temptation out of Finale

Finale is sister to Dream Rubina (Same dam Reine H)
Old gal and her fancy Templar!

Clipped body, left hair for biting fly protection!
My lovely young mare, FINALE, 3rd generation of Yancey Farms' program (Furst Heinrich out of Reina H by Rubinstein)

Of course, best trot behind Mom

Always such effortless movement

Dream Rubina and her grand-daughter, Quite Feine!

Yesterday we took the opportunity to grab a couple of photos of the generations! Quite Feine represents my 5th generation ...... and everyone that has been around the barn has noticed how the yearling filly is crazy about her Granny, Dream Rubina.
Quite Feine by Qredit , Dream Rubina's son!

10 y.o. Dream Rubina and grand daughter Quite Feine

Look how happy and easy both girls are.
She just goes crazy when she sees Granny ..... calling, standing on her hind legs to see out her stall. And she was so peaceful to stand for photos with her sweet Granny. Quite Feine was bred by Meg Sherman out of her mare VPS Feiner Dance )Feiner Stern - Riverman)
Blood will tell!

2013 Foal Inspection is history already!

Hard to believe that another Inspection has come and gone! This marks my 29th consecutive inspection with the German Oldenburg Verband! While we did not have a large quantity of foals to present, we certainly had the quality!

Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Championships

Today I made my hotel reservations for the 2013 Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Championships at Lamplight on August 22 - 25!!!  Turns out the I have THREE boys up in the rankings, looking like they will make the cut for the Finals. (Fingers crossed).
QREDIT & M. Bragsdell at 4 years
Tamarinde and her two boys from 2009

I am trying to imagine what I will feel like......... Nervous? Excited? Proud? Validated? And TWO of them are in the 4 year old division .........
Who will I root for????  Oh my, oh my.

In the Four Year Old Division, as of last Friday, FLORETIENNE (the bay) by Florestan out of Tamarinde by Jazz - Matador II is in second place nationwide.
His older brother, QUANTUM JAZZ ( chestnut by Quaterback) also out of Tamarinde (by ET) is in 8th place.
Both are ridden by Debbie HIll and owned by Leslie Waterman.

In the Five Year Old Division, our well known stallion , QREDIT by Quaterback out of Dream Rubina by Dream of Glory - Rubinstein, is right now in 9th, so hopefully will get a bid for the Finals. I am amazed that he can breed a full book of mares AND compete with attention and strength. But, he is capably ridden by Chris Hickey , owned by Hilltop Farm.

Dream Rubina also produced the 4 year old Dressage Young Horse Champion in NSW,  Australia! You know that handsome W.ELLINGTON by Wynton.
He is co-owned by Andrew Buckley and Tracey Watson, ridden by Andrew.

It is a big year for our 38 year old breeding program.

TEMPLAR , by Temptation out of Finale (Furst Heinrich - Rubinstein)

Since Cookie is going out of town for the summer, we thought we had better do a quick video of TEMPLAR , at 6 weeks of age, to document his growing up!

Templar is a super fun colt, very manly and still oh so classy.

W.Ellington WINS big at the NSW Young Horse Championships!!!

And he brings home the 4 year old Championship for owner/rider Andrew Buckley and co--owner Tracey Watson..... and to all his family at Yancey Farms!!

W.Ellington is by Wynton out of Dream Rubina

He has the same winning ways as his older half brother, QREDIT (by Quaterback), Hilltop Farm.
Both outstanding young stallions are out of my cornerstone mare DREAM RUBINA (Dream of Glory out of Reina H by Rubinstein) QREDIT was Champion of the 2012 Stallion Performance Test in the U.S., and now his little brother is Champion of the 4 year old in Australia! Well done boys, riders, owners .... and Dream Rubina!

Both young stallions are 4th generation representatives of Yancey Farms, going back to my all time great mare, HELENA, Tk (Herbststurm - Pregel).

Little tidbits of news from Yancey Farms....

Breeding season has been kind so far...........
W. ELLINGTON (WYNTON x DREAM RUBINA)

So far, so good for the little embryo from WYNTON and DREAM RUBINA . Word from Vet is that he/she is in good shape.

Hopefully, W. Ellington will have a full brother or sister in 2014!!

The colt option is for sale in the recip mare.

TAMARINDE (JAZZ - Matador II- Rubinstein - Welt As)
My beautiful and excellent producing mare, TAMARINDE, is in foal to DE NIRO for 2014. Tamarinde has been sold. I know - it's a shock for me too.

You can read more about her on my "Our Horses" page. All of her foals had been Premium awarded by German Oldenburg Verband, and this past year I presented her VOICE filly "Hear Me Sing" to the KWPN and she was RESERVE CHAMPION KWPN foal of North America. Top, top mare; Keur, Sport Predicate Dressage. She is full sister to WYNTON

We also have a foal coming by this supple and interesting young stallion Quantensprung (Quando-Quando - Donnerhall - Laurie's Crusader) also out of our cornerstone mare, Dream Rubina (Dream of Glory - Rubinstein)

This baby is an early one and is also in a recip mare.

It should be a gorgeous liver chestnut with modern type and supple movement, while retaining substance from Rubina. Colt option for sale.
